NY Wiffle Ball League

League Rules
Players Per Team
Each Team Has 2 Players
Balls and Strikes
5 Balls is a walk and 2 Strikes is an out.
Any foul ball with 1 strike is a foul out even if its not fielded.
A pitch that bounces and hits the strike zone is a called strike.
A pitch that bounces before the 15 foot line, goes over the fence or is farther than 6 feet from the plate to the left or right is counted as 2 balls.

Pitching and Hitting Rules
Pitchers must pitch from at least 30 feet away and use their opposite dominant hand ( lefties must pitch right, righties must pitch lefty ). There is no restriction on which side of the plate you can bat from.
Outs
a. Each team gets 2 outs per half inning.
b. A ground ball that is fielded cleanly before reaching the singles line/area is considered an out.
c. A ball that is fielded in the air before hitting the ground is an out.
d. Deflected or bobbled fielding plays - Any deflected ball either on the ground or in the air will still be considered an out if it is secured before hitting the ground again by the player who initial touched it or their teammate.
e. Any misplayed ball that a player attempts to field and then hits the ground is an error.
f. Any ball that is fielded off any wall or boundary in the field before hitting the ground is also an out as long as it has not settled ( stuck in a bush or tree , etc ) . This is true even on balls that are hit into deemed home run territory.
g. Any ball that makes it past the 15 foot line in fair territory but stops before the singles area/line is an out and does not need to be fielded to be recorded as such.
h. In order to record a fielded out, the fielder must have at least 1 foot in the field of play.

Mercy Rule, Inning Run limit and carry over outs
a. The mercy rule during regular season games is 6 after each team has had equal at bats.
b. In the first 2 innings there is a 5 run limit. Once this limit is reached the half inning will end and any outs remaining in the inning will carry over to the last inning. Even if the hit that reached the 5 run limit scored additional runs 5 will be the maximum runs allow per half inning in the first 2 innings . The hit will however still be scored correctly without the corresponding RBIs ( i.e. 4 runs in and a grand slam in the second inning will count as a 1 RBI grand slam )
c. Any Carryover outs by the home team will be used if needed in the bottom of the 3rd inning. If the away team has carry over outs they will declare in the top of the 3rd if they will use them all in the top of the 3rd or transfer the carry over outs to the 4th inning. If both teams have carry over outs, the away team must first declare how they will use their carry over outs. If they choose to carry them to the 4th inning, the home team must then choose to use their carry over outs in the 3rd or also transfer them to the 4th inning.
d. Home team facing mercy with declared 4th inning carryover outs must use their outs to try to avoid mercy.
